Six of you are tagged!

I was tagged by my sister-in-law, Marcie, to pull up the sixth file and then the sixth picture in my photo folder so here it is...

This was in Montana a couple years ago (I don't even remember how old Maci was!) when we went wakeboarding on the lake with Josh and Marcie and their friends. It turned out to be such a fun trip. I remember being pretty proud of myself on the wakeboard, but the lake was still cold!

I tag: Shawnna, Tia, Lindsey S., Meagan (any or all), Katie, and Lisa

Maci Moments + More!!

Maci has had some long days of playing lately. This is how she fell asleep yesterday. Also you may think that's a gigantic mole on her arm, but really it's a kid tattoo that is turning out to be pretty permanently stuck on. They should really put a warning on those things...something like "If you are lucky enough to get this tattoo on in one piece in the first place, it will mostly likely be stuck on your kid for months." I'm gonna have to scrub her arm while she's sleeping eventually. Maci moment: This morning Maci and I made breakfast for Jared's b-day. He was done eating before us and had to get to work (so to speak, for anyone who knows us)...and as he left the table Maci breathed out a sigh and said, "Now we can have some peace and quiet." Speaking of Jared...Happy Birthday Old Man!!! He went snowboarding and chose the healthiest dinner for me to make him: philly cheese steak sandwiches and meaty super nachos. Nasty. But he liked it. We topped it off with cupcakes.

Duh, duh, duh...Happy New Year! (gus gus)

I'm proud to report to all who care (or happened by the blog my mistake) that today...more than half-way through February...I set my New Years Goals. Although I plan to not start them until mid-March. Don't judge me...because I know all of you who set yours for January first already gave up. Now...where is that ice cream...

Guess Who? It could be you....

I got this fun idea from my friend's blog (thanks Misti!). I thought it was such a good idea and way to stay upbeat in a kind-of depressing time. Plus, Jared has recently revealed that I can be somewhat of a cold person. I totally agree and am here to prove him sooooo wrong. So here it is...every once in awhile (maybe twice a month or so...let's keep that broad) I am going to pick a name out of a cup and spotlight a person and 5 favorite things about them on my blog! Lucky you (but don't get your hopes up...the odds are against you)!
It took me awhile to come up with the ingenius game name "Guess who? It could be you..." which is why it's so catchy and even rhymes.
Today is Guess Who round one. *It could be you.....
Top five awesome things about this person:
1. She has super pretty skin and awesome eyebrows.
2. She has a great sense of humor that makes people feel comfortable.
3. She is such a forgiving person! If I could be half as forgiving, Jared may like me a little bit more...(:
4. Ever since Maci was born, she made sure we knew that she loved our baby! She always wanted to hold her when we visited, she always asks about her, and she sends her little things in the mail sometimes which is so sweet.
5. She is a hard worker! Ever since I've known her, she has made ends meet even if her situation didn't make that easy. Such an awesome quality that a lot of people don't have. Even now...pregnant and so busy I'm sure...she's running a daycare! So if that didn't give it away, here she is...

My Sister-in-law, Meggan (Jared's older sister)!

Hey Meggan--you're awesome. Hope you're feeling great and we can't wait to see your little baby soon!

Now for the fine print: *As always, winner of the game "Guess Who" gets a cool prize which is nothing except fame on my infamous blog. Maybe if you're lucky, next time it will be you...

Baby Tag

1- Where were you when you first found out you were pregnant? Maci: Michigan apartment (round one) in the bathroom. Baby: Michigan apartment (round two) in the bathroom. 2- Who was with you? Maci: I took the test alone in the bathroom…Jared was in the bedroom waiting patiently. Baby: I took the test alone in the bathroom…Jared was in the bedroom waiting not so patiently. My parents were in the living room (family reunion) so it was an exciting morning! 3- How did you find out that you were pregnant? Maci: We were driving back from my brother’s house after memorial day just talking about the odd chance….I had missed a period and so we decided out of the blue at eleven o’clock at night to stop and get a test at Meijer. Baby: We were waiting to see if this month was the one! I had a small stash of tests in my bathroom cabinet. 4- What was your first reaction to finding out you were pregnant? Maci: Surprised! I really didn’t expect to get pregnant on the first try, but SO happy at the same time. Then weepy, then laughy, then weepy….which is just how pregnancy is altogether! Baby: SO happy! And more relieved than anything. 5- Your Husbands reaction? Maci: A little too calm…I could tell he was stressed by his smile. But he was still so sweet about it. Neither one of us knew what to expect! Baby: “Really? Really?!!” He laughed and picked me up and spun me around. We both cried. One of my best memories with him so far. 6- Who was the first person you told? Maci: I think my parents…but I can’t remember for sure. Actually I think Jared let the news slip to his brother, Aaron. (Not so good with secrets, but that’s a good thing) Baby: Maci, then my parents, since they were here! Then my whole family since they were here, too! 7-Did you plan to get pregnant? Maci: Yes…it just happened lightening fast, so we were still a little shocked. Baby: Yes, and we had been waiting for the right time for awhile. 8-Was everybody happy for you? Maci: Yes…except Jared got a few empty threats from my brothers. Baby: Yes…but still the empty threats. 9- Did you go out and celebrate? Maci: I can’t say I remember celebrating. Baby: It was my birthday, and the family reunion, so we were already having a party! 10- Did you want to find out the sex? Maci: Yes…I am a planner through and through. Baby: Yes…I cannot wait for this kind of surprise! 11- What was the sex? Maci: Girl…and she is ALL girl. Baby: Girl again! Lucky Maci. 12-Did anyone throw you a baby shower? Maci: My mom and sisters threw me a huge shower at home and my interior design friends threw me one as well. Both were super fun! Baby: Suzette is being super sweet and throwing me one! 13- How much weight did you gain? Maci: 21 pounds Baby: So far I’ve gained 26 pounds. But a lot of cake can happen in 4 ½ weeks, so no final number yet. 14- Did you lose all of the weight that you gained? Maci: Yes…nursing is the best ever. Baby: I’m already planning my workouts. 15- Did you get a lot of stretch marks? Maci: None on my stomach, a few light ones on my legs. That’s just where I pack it. Baby: No new ones, but the old ones are showing true. 16- What did you crave the most? Maci: Fruit fruit fruit. Baby: Fruit fruit fruit. 17- Did you crave anything crazy? Maci: This is when I started to love ice cream. It really did nothing for me before this pregnancy, and now I can’t get enough! Baby: Looks like chocolate is making it’s face shown…I’ve never been a chocolate person until now. But it’s not too powerful, so I suspect it will fade away soon. 18- Who or what got on your nerves the most? Maci: I remember getting annoyed with other pregnant women from Jared‘s job. And smokers…ugh that smell is so sick. Baby: It doesn’t take much, but it’s also easier to laugh things off now. 19- Were you married at the time? Maci: Yes. Baby: Yes. 20- Did you have any complications during your pregnancy? Maci: She was super tiny! Placenta was not functioning properly. Baby: Dropped in growth quite a bit, but things are looking better! 21- Where were you when you went into labor? Maci: At the hospital. The doctor was supposed to be putting some slow dilating device in me, but accidentally broke my water, instead. I was not dilated in the slightest. Baby: I’m hoping that I won’t go into labor on Friday the 13th! 22- Did your water break? Maci: Not on purpose! Baby: That would be crazy. 23- Did you go early or late? Maci: Due date…Groundhog’s Day which was totally fitting for a reason we cannot explain. Baby: It will be a little early…(for the c-section.) 24- Who was in the room with you when you gave birth? Maci: Jared and a bunch of doctors. Baby: 25- Was it video taped? Maci: The before and after moments were. 26- Did you have any drugs for the pain? Maci: I was given some Demerol, which made me REALLY delirious and crazy all night. Also made me throw up. Then I had an epidural because I had this thing inside me measuring contractions and I remember the nurse telling me I was experienced some major “9” type contractions when I was dilated to a 4. Then all a few more back shots before they cut into me…yuck. Baby: I’m expecting much less exhaustion! 27-Did you go vaginal or have a c-section? Maci: Labored for a long time and ended with a c-section. Baby: It will be a c-section. 28- What was your first reaction after giving birth? Maci: I was overwhelmed…I felt very incapable Baby: 29- How big was the baby(s)? Maci: 5lbs. 6oz, 19-½” long Baby: They are forecasting in the 6’s if I can go to my scheduled date 30- Did your Husband cry? Maci: I don’t think so…to tell you the truth I don’t remember him there a whole lot even though I know he was…I was so foggy. Baby: 31- What did you name the baby(s)? Maci: Maci Brooklyn Baby: AHHHHH!!! We don’t know yet! 32-Did the name have any significance to you? Maci: We heard it and knew it would fit her perfectly, and it does. Baby: I’m keeping my hopes up that I’ll find something suitable…I’m not even shooting for perfect anymore. 33- Did the baby(s) have any complications? Maci: She wouldn’t eat the next day, so she had to go to Special Care for a couple days. But after that, she was healthy and super happy. Baby: 34- How old is your baby today? Maci: Four going on fourteen Baby: We’re in week 35! 35- When is the next one(s) coming? Baby: March 16th 36- If you could would you do it all over again? Maci: I would take more video and pictures with her and I would give Jared more time alone with her to bond. I tag all the moms!

Maci Love

Maci turned four today. I cannot believe she is getting so big. What really freaks me out is that I remember being four.....so that means Maci will remember, too! I've gotta say that Maci has gotten SO funny every year we've had her and each year has held more surprises for us. My favorite things about her this year:
  • She makes this growling sound under her covers when she thinks I don't know where she's hiding. Sounds a lot like a jaguar growl. Every night. Never fails.
  • She blocks every possible passageway in the house if she knows I'm trying to walk somewhere and makes me repeat a made up password to get by. Her latest is "Football four football score".
  • She memorizes whole childrens books.
  • If we let her watch anything on TV, which is limited, she pulls up her mini recliner, reclines it, and gets a blanket and snack before she can watch.
  • She is reading small words and sentences...and thinks it's so funny to say the wrong letter when I ask her what something is.
  • Every prayer she says goes like this: "thank you for everything and thank you for the whole world"....which I guess covers it all.
  • She is generous and kind...she never thinks twice about sharing food/prizes with me and Jared. She shared her best pieces of Halloween candybecause she knew that Jared liked a certain kind. She asked to have the baby share her room, and she'll save things she gets so she can share with her friends.
  • She is so happy...always laughing and trying to make us laugh. She is the definition of a social butterfly and I love her sense of humor.
  • She STILL pretends she is asleep in her carseat when we pull into our parking lot. She has done this since she was 18 months old. She thinks it is the funniest trick in the book.

Here are some pictures of her Pinkalicious birthday party. If you are unaware, Pinkalicious is the cutest children's book for a little girl...Maci and I love it. So we based her party around it and it WAS pinkalicious.
Pink overkill on the cupcakes...just how we like it
They decorated wands...they were so cute about the sticker jewels (Maci calls them dimes...meaning diamonds but I don't want to correct her!)

Blowing out the candles!
We had a small family get together as well...the superbowl naturally worked itself in. It was a lot of fun...

Love you, little Maci! You're the sweetest.
