Let the Music Move You

The scene was as follows: We were walking through downtown Wilmington and went into a touristy shop. While browsing with Maci in the stroller, hip hop music started to play over the store's sound system. Maci said, "I have to get out". She got out of her stroller and started dancing and did not stop until we were completely out of, not only the store, but the entire development of stores. She couldn't even walk because the music just had ahold of her. She even danced while going up stairs. All kinds of people walking by were entertained. I just caught the tail end of her scene and will post it above. Enjoy!

Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving was so much fun. We decided to be brave and drive 16 HOURS EACH WAY to Hampstead North Carolina to see my sister, Trish, and her family. Of course Maci got sick the morning we left (it's this strange plague that follows us...every time we have a trip, Maci gets sick), but she did surprisingly well for that long trip. Question of the day: Have you ever been to West Virginia in the fall? It's breathtaking. The leaves were beautiful and inspiring me to do rooms in those colors (ha! Slapped back to reality, I live in an apartment). But really I loved it and am lucky that Jared didn't throw me out the window after the 90th time of hearing, "Look how pretty over there!" Other quick news: Maci dislocated her elbow on Thanksgiving Day (see the plague statement above), we went to the beach (it was mid-70's and we were the only ones there!), we went to one of the NC Aquariums, window shopping, to the movie Enchanted, and Chuck-E-Cheeses. My highlight of the week was when my nephew Isaac spent all of his hard earned Chuck-E-Cheese tickets to get Maci a princess crown from the prize cabinet. So sweet. Thanks Rick and Trish for all of the fun and especially Rick for letting us watch the office that night without kicking me out!

Halloween

Maci and Averie.....................Daddy and Maci
Maci's best puppy pose
(kind-of looks like a bunny)

Halloween was fun this year. Maci, dressed as a puppy, went trick-or-treating with Arial (AKA: Averie) and Sebastian (AKA: Kempton). She wore out fast, but lasted long enough to get all kinds of M&M's. Jared had to put his foot down after the 5th house she chose M&M's and told her to go for the big orange candy bars instead. I just realized after having a kid that Halloween never really was about the kids. It's all about the parents dressing their children up like ridiculous imaginary characters, sending them out in the freezing cold, and waiting to reap the rewards when they arrive home. I'm having flashbacks of my own dad having to "test" my candy to make sure it was safe. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to try this kit kat bar to make sure it's good enough for my little girl. (:

I love Halloween for the following reasons:

1. Kids really think they are what they dress as. Maci just barked at doors instead of saying trick-or-treat.

2. If you don't know how to use a sewing machine and have no desire to learn, you can just buy a costume and walah! you can be something imaginary for one great night.

3. Virtually no planning required. I ask Maci what she wants to be, she tells me, I buy it along with a bag of candy, and done. No stress, no mess, and a whole bag of Maci's candy.

4. Did I mention the free candy? Think how great the other holidays would be if you could just knock on random doors and get free stuff in your bag.

Maci's Piece of Art

We had Maci draw the face on her pumpkin (alright fine, she just did the eyes by herself), but she was so happy to put it on the porch with the candle lit.
